I'm still renting at fucking 52. But I don't give a shit about money as long as I have enough to survive. My relationship of 9 years ended today but onwards and upwards. Who knows what life throws at you next? Grab the future by the face always.
Sorry to read this, but I admire the hell out of your perspective.
Thanks Doc, this is the reason I listen to Shout It Out Loud every day.
Aaaaaaaand you ruined it.

Ha! more like an English pauper. I bought my first house at 20, second at 23 and third at 24. I lived in the 3rd house for 30 years. Then the relationship failed this time my ex went off with a police sergeant. So estate agents and policemen are not my favourite people.

I then moved in with my mum and stepfather to help out with his bad health. He sadly passed away Christmas before last. So just my mum and I now. I'm semi retired and haven't worked for the last three years.

May look for some part time work but not much need to as pretty secure financially. Still not quite that Nigerian prince.
The idea of buying a home at 20 is wild. We didn't buy our first until we were, I think, 31.

You're a damned good son for living with and caring for your mother. I'm not sure I could have done that.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out mate. Still admire that attitude. :approve:

All the very best.
Cheers mate. It was my decision to end it but I'm still hurt as fuck that things didn't work out. But the future is unwritten as a wise man once said.
Best of luck with all this Hes. It sounds like a brave move on your part. Ending a long term relationship is never easy. Other than some strange musical proclivities you seem like a great person.

And Marky sorry for all that prior shit but I think its great you can be there for your mom. I wish I still had time with mine. Cherish it.

Thanks mate. It's the first time I've ended a relationship since I was at school and on that occasion I got someone to do it for me. I'll not deny it's been a tough day though, I'm pretty choked.

Also echo what you say about our moms. Treasure them.

When I was like 10 the school bus driver told me something similar. I didn't get it at the time, but never forgot it.

Revbob said everything better than I could have, but I second this.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Memoriiiiiieees......
While on the subject, what was the rationale behind the name? Always curious about that stuff.
I contracted chicken pox from my brother when I was 15, pretty late for most people. It was agony, and I later used the name as my "nom de punk" for a number of bands that I was in at the time. It seemed appropriately snotty in a Johnny Rotten sort of way.
I contracted chicken pox at 29, most ill I've been in my life.
I committed suicide at 23 and luckily failed. Took a whole medicine cabinet of drugs and had my stomach pumped out. That's gotta be the most I'll I've ever been.
I am SO glad you failed.
