So glad to hear!Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 May 2021, 1:12pmFinally got an appointment tomorrow. Signing up for pharmacies has been totally useless, but a nearby hospital just opened up for people in my neighbourhood, and we got in right away. What a shitshow this has been.

Very happy to hear you got an appointment. Which vaccine are they offering up there?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 May 2021, 1:12pmFinally got an appointment tomorrow. AstraZeneca, tho Moderna and Pfizer are showing up this week or next, I believe. My understanding is that, apart from the extremely rare possibility of a blood clot, the side effects are much less noticeable than the stuff Americans have been getting.Kimmelweck wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 10:33amVery happy to hear you got an appointment. I think the blood clot risk is a bit overblown. I’ve read that they are hundreds of times more likely from smoking, so who knows if it’s actually the vaccine causing it. Does AZ require a second dose?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 10:44amAstraZeneca, tho Moderna and Pfizer are showing up this week or next, I believe. Re: The Coronavirus Thread Of Good News
Compared to where I was last year, much better. We stayed in as much as we could, but I struggled with it. It kind of worked out because she was okay staying home, so that gave me a chance to get out now and then to run to the store and so on. Anxiety has been something I've known since I was a kid and it comes and goes these days. I've done quite a bit of therapy and it has really helped.Silent Majority wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 10:03amHow are you doing at the moment, mate?WestwayKid wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 9:46amWe definitely are a varied species. I suffer from anxiety and I've found the various lockdowns have at times made me more anxious. I tend to find comfort and balance when I'm with other people, and not just always people I know. I actually find it calming to run to the store. My partner on the other hand is someone who has very much enjoyed being at home. She's a teacher and only recently had to go back into the classroom (she taught from home for a year). There would be weeks where she wouldn't leave the house at all, but I can barely sit still for a day.Silent Majority wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 9:29amI've heard of a not-insignificant number of people who suffer anxiety finding their mental health much improved during lockdowns. We're a varied species.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 7:46amThis whole mess has been a bit of a revelation for me. I'm tend to think of myself as anxious and worried about most things, but I've been pretty calm the past fourteen months. Sensible precautions taken so I've done what I can and that's that. I haven't been clamouring to get the needle, but am glad to get it done. The Boss, on the other hand, who is much more even-keeled most of the time, has been more wary and judgemental of others and germ conscious since this began, and gets irritated at my seeming nonchalance. Another friend treats the various lockdown restrictions as a personal attack and doesn't understand my response that she has an amazing income and can work from home and is healthy, whereas there are people who'll never recover financially and others literally dying. This isn't to say I'm so level-headed and all that—my track record of anxiety and pessimism proves otherwise—but that apparently I am capable of mustering up a stoic calm.Silent Majority wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 6:58am
Dead pleased you've finally got o ne on the books.
I reckon the program will get to my cohort in early June in the UK. I'm honestly not that afraid of the rona, I'm a healthy guy, so far, but I am coveting the jab. Get this shit behind us.

Glad the flying squirrel delivery service is finally coming through, Doc! Get that jab and get back to not socializing with people - but on your terms.

Yeah, the risks of a fatal blood clot are such that you're just as likely to win the lottery. Considerably more likely to get a blood clot from a transoceanic flight.Kimmelweck wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 11:04amI think the blood clot risk is a bit overblown. Well, if you do get a bloodclot you'll know you should also pick up a few lotto tickets, at leastDr. Medulla wrote: ↑06 May 2021, 11:33amYeah, the risks of a fatal blood clot are such that you're just as likely to win the lottery. Literally the mildest needle I've ever received. If I didn't know I was getting it, I wouldn't have been aware. Now I wait until dark to turn into the Hulk.

If Bill Gates wanted to implant microchips in anti-vaxxers, he’d use a Krispy Kreme truck.

I'm still waiting for the web-slinging ability that Pfizer is supposed to provide, but I guess it takes a couple weeks.
