I haven't been going to my bar lately anyway, due to oldness
Same here, due to oldness and two-kidness.
We do have a favourite cafe though.

The Rose Villa Tavern. The closest pub to my house that I like.

The Victoria. Great place to drink and dance.

And, while they're awful, for many reasons, I always feel at home in a Wetherspoons.

That place looks great but has to be an old Victorian brothel??

Don't really give a shit about the booze, I would love to chill out in a pub with a coca cola.

Good lord, that place is beautiful. It looks out of an old lithograph.

I wish I went to bars more in general, but kid generally inhibits that.

My favorite bar in SF was The Page. Can't find any nice publicity shots, but this is a decent shot of the main bar:

Good beer and whiskey selection. I miss this place and try to get back any time I can make it to SF. Saw the Giants win the world series here in 2010 too.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Flex might remember this one, but i'd kill to hang out at the Moan and Dove in Amherst one more time. I never went there a ton but the few times I did my senior year I enjoyed it.

There's also a bar down here in Arlington that has craft brews on tap and used to do chili cheese tots which are delicious if you can make it home before you gotta poop.

I went to that spot back in the 90s when I was at UMASS. It was called the Amherst Ale House back then. They had free popcorn which was nice. I drank a lot of Berkshire Brewing's Steel Rail Pale Ales there.

Oh yeah, loved that place. I remember we coveted that bottle of Sam Adams Utopia on the shelf. Did I ever tell you a friend of mine had a bottle and shared some with me a few years back? Real fun.

I tried to find some good photos of the moan and dove, but they're surprisingly scant on the internet. I need to make a trip back to Western mass and revisit some of the old stomping grounds. Get some cider donuts and a beer.

Edit: coveted, not covered

I forgot to mention it has the most claustrophobic men’s room. You basically have to grind against whoever is using the urinal to get to the sink.

Rachel Maddow beat me at pool once at Packards in Northampton. Also in Northampton was Joe's Cafe which has good bar pizza.

My wife and I have been driving out that way to hike over the past few weeks, particularly around the Quabbiin. The hiking spots around Boston have been uncomfortably crowded so it has been worth the drive. We're thinking of going to Mount Tom this weekend. Under normal circumstances we'd got straight to one of the old haunts.

Hoping this one will be able to figure out a way to actually get reopned soon. I've had a drink with one or two of you here: the Dillon Tiki Bar. Run by a local brewery at the town marina, great views, decent drinks, mediocre food and you'll know at least half the crowd as everyone local has a drink there in the summer.
