Given that you coined the useful phrase "sincere irony," it's a shame you can't consider that WWK, revbob, and I don't appreciate MT from that exact perspective. But go on and throw rocks at us for having some investment in a strip.

Second best comic of the new run after the crisis on infinite marks one, imho. To each their own, I suppose.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

In some ways it feels more old fashioned than the original.

Re: The Mark Trail Thread of Punching Justice and Smug Life Lessons
Ironically, it may be closer to its original incarnation in it being really earnest (albeit via making the star a boob). That is, it started off as a sincere adventure/nature strip (with unconscious undertones of civilization/savagery and imperialist ideology thrown in), and the early read so far is sincere adventure with, I'm guessing, conscious social and eco justice ideology. The Allen stuff was playful winking at those old adventure comics, whether MT or even Tintin. That's why I resent the notion that we're just bitter in our snark; I think there's joy in the snark in the way that Allen's stuff set it up. It's playful and ridiculous.

Mark's probably got tickets to the Pearl Jam show.

Is there any doubt that Mark is a Springsteen fan? You know he's got Born To Run on 8-track in the Truckster.

How long was the Allen period? Maybe we should just go back to the beginning and do a re-read.

Wikipedia says he started in 2014. If those archives were available, hell yeah, I'd be up for posting a strip per day to get back to the weirdness and laughs.
edit: For $20 a year, we can get access to the archives, which looks like about 20 years worth (7657 strips). I'm fine with paying for it, but it's whether those strips can be linked.

Mark doesn't seem as chiseled. The kind of guy who'd turn down an award because of a sick dog, no matter how many threats buildings and giant animals make.revbob wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 8:46pmDr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 5:26pmWhile searching about archives, I came upon this: https://www.mcall.com/opinion/mc-opi-ma ... story.html

Will that boat explode? I feel like we're being set up here.

Which, alas, isn't a shrine dedicated to the late Monkee. Which would have certainly redeem the meandering narrative thus far.Kory wrote: ↑20 Nov 2020, 2:16pmThe airboat's the only way you'll meet...Davy Jones.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑20 Nov 2020, 8:55am
