Cherry realizes Mark cares far more for Andy than he'll ever care for her. I guarantee if she was near death Mark would go to the awards dinner. Also, my hunch is that the awards dinner is at a Holiday Inn.
Ah, but a New York City Holiday Inn. And if Andy could make pancakes, Cherry'd be back to stripping under the name Tara Part.
And Mark still hasn't broken the news to Cherry that Andy was to be his date to the awards dinner.

I guarantee it's actually in Jersey.
To Mark, everything with a population of more than 25 is New York City.

This story arc is becoming incredibly tedious. I think we need at least another week's worth of strips regarding Mark's torment on whether or not he should attend the awards dinner. It would be cool if he decided to go at the last minute, but then found that the Hoboken Holiday Inn was booked up. He could then fret about making the journey back to Lost Forrest or sleeping in his car in a McDonald's parking lot.

To be fair, Andy has been his trusted companion since the 1940's.

This month: Destitute, Mark is forced into prostitution on the mean streets of Hoboken! There's just one problem: He doesn't know what sex is.

Mark picked Cherry up that ONE drunken night at the Rod n Reel when Andy had an overnight at the vet and she never left, brought her drug addict father with her too and some vagabond orphan. Mark vowed to never drink anything stronger than water or lemonade he made himself. When he ordered lemonade at the Rod n Reel they assumed he meant hard lemonade. He's paid for that mistake many times over.

I had the opposite take: "That fucking cat. Not a wound on her … yet."

That nature scene in panel 2 is really odd looking.

It seems like the fox is chasing the rabbit, but his casual crossed legs also make it seem like it's lounging.

Its also unusually red.

And then Andy is a "great animal".
Not sure what kind of animal?
Perhaps he can do some research, write an article and maybe finally win that award Cherry wants so badly.

Theory: Andy has actually been writing all of Mark's copy. Mark is an imbecile (plenty of evidence for that) and without his canine puppetmaster putting proper words in his mouth, he reveals himself. Get better, Andy, so you can go to Hoboken and get your award!
