Nick Kamen. I guess he was indirectly responsible for the Clash's only UK number 1 single.
I heard that through the grapevine. ;)
He had very good genes.
He had 501 pairs.

Wow. By that, I mean I'm surprised she wasn't that much older than me.

Yeah. I know she had drug/alcohol problems, but seems to have been out of trouble that last ten years or so. Hopefully she wasn't too troubled in her final years since she's got kids and stuff.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Actor Norman Lloyd, 106. Maybe best known as Dr. Auschlander on St. Elsewhere, where he was old and nearing death.

He was born before the US entered WW1.

I said to the Boss yesterday that he was born only a few months after WWI began. He was in utero while Franz Ferdinand was alive.

He got his start acting with that New Deal era theatre program and took his final role at age 100. Not a bad run.

One of the last big things I did before lockdown was see The Long Goodbye at the Egyptian. Elliott Gould was there and gave a little talk after, and he cut it short to say he was getting dinner with Norman Lloyd, "and who knows how many more chances I'll get, he's 104." Dude lived two whole years after that. Nuts.
