Holy crap. A guy who could, quite literally, read from a book and make it hilarious. His control of inflection was amazing. When he spoke, there was nobody funnier within a thousand miles.

edit: Ooof, he had a bit in a comedy special from a few years ago where he mocked how people who die of cancer are always described as fighting it bravely. Surely there were cowards who just rolled over, right?

A bit late but very sad news about the passing of Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud. She went to the High School just down the road from where I live and a few of my now grown up lacrosse juniors went to school with her.

Yes, very sad. One of those manufactured bands who actually had some decent songs. I loved "The Promise."

reading a list of his jokes, this one seem appropriate for our board

I wouldn't call myself a fan of Steampunk. But I will say, its the healthiest way to prepare punk.

He has the disease of alcoholism. And he came to me and he told me, and I'm the kind of guy that likes to look at the bright side of things. So I told him, I said, "Richie, it's true that you have a disease and everything, but I think you got the best one."

I can't recommend highly enough his satirical celebrity memoir, especially the audio version that he narrates. And this never fails to make me laugh:

You ever lie for no reason at all? Just all of sudden, a big lie spills out of your evil head. Like a guy will come up to you, "Hey, did you ever see that movie with Meryl Streep and a horse?" And you go, "Yes." In the back of your head, you're like, "What in the hell am I lying about over here? I stand to gain nothing by this lie."

Bummer.

I just saw this thread, how very sad. Loved him in his role as a news anchor on SNL.

"OJ Simpson was in a different kind of courtroom this week attempting to regain custody of his two children. In order to prove to the court how much he loves his kids, OJ pointed out quote 'Hey, they're still alive, aren't they?'"

There was also one from WU that always cracked me up because of its sheer simple stupidity:

"The number one selling band over the summer was Better than Ezra. The number two band? Ezra."

I'm cracking up at my desk just thinking about it.
