16 is a serious number.
Missouri's age of consent? :shifty:
Ha! Actually, unsurprisingly, 12 year olds were able to marry in MO up until a few years ago.

At least we'll keep pace with Boston I guess.

I'm totally fine with the Jays passing the Sox. Boston plays so much meathead baseball that it's unpleasant to watch.

Yeah, this is where I'm at. At this point, 'm rooting for Toronto or or Seattle to keep the Sox from embarrassing themselves in a Wild Card game.

A Toronto-Seattle wildcard would be groovy. Neither Boston nor New York have shown they're worthy, especially for their payrolls.

I would stab Neil in the eye and tell the cops about the "students" he keeps basement just to be 2 games out of wildcard with a week left.

i'm not really rooting for my team to lose - i hope they win out the rest of the season and I'll never not want them to win games - but my nightmare scenario is getting stomped in a WC race by the Yankees and I'd definitely rather a team like Seattle or Toronto that hasn't sniffed glory for a while but is capable to go take out NYY than see us go in and lose.

Fake edit: I'd stab Neil in the eye for your team to be two games out of the wildcard too.

 I'd never stab either of you fellas.

But I'm not hoping the Sox miss the playoffs; I'm saying I won't be bothered in the slightest if it happens, especially when the Jays and Mariners are playing more like they're a major league team than the Burlington Revbob Beerguzzlers.

Now I feel bad. I'll downgrade the stab to a poke. But kinda hard.

The Negro League: Baseball in the Oppression of Racism
Deborah Bouton • Claire Pointe Rd., Burlington

Event
When: Sep 29, 2021, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

America's Favorite Pastime from its beginnings in the 1840s has reflected the contradictions of our country. The all-American sport was deeply racist and segregated, with Black players kept out of all-white teams until 1946, when Jackie Robinson joined the Montreal Royals.

Along with Cubans, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans, Black players played on their own teams and in their own leagues until 1959. This is the story of the Negro Leagues, which were comprised of professional baseball teams of Black and Latin Americans from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Join the Vermont Institute of Community & International Involvement on Wednesday, September 30, from 6 to 7:30pm as Tom Simon (Burlington attorney, baseball historian, member of the Society for American Baseball Research, and ultimate baseball fan) and Bill "Spaceman" Lee (former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and Montreal Expos, and current pitcher for the Burlington Cardinals) tell us about us these moments in the history of this most American of sports.

The presentation will be a hybrid in-person event from 6-7:30 pm at the AALV (Association of Africans Living in America) , 20 Allen St., Burlington, Vermont (the Old North End Community Center, formerly the St Joseph School -- 3rd floor) and via Zoom at
