Seriously, tho, this is Billy Beane's playoffs-as-crapshoot in action. The Sox couldn't close things out against the Yankees in that last series, then lost two of three to the Zeroes. They were, at best, mediocre after the ASG. And then they turn into the '27 Yankees. I think they'll close out the Astros, who just don't have much left for pitching now, but I shrug my shoulder beyond that.

They finally took it seriously I didn't think they had it in them.
Helluva swing for the tying homer, too—a ball that was well high.

Meanwhile, not the score in Boston I was expecting to wake up to. I went to bed mid-5th. Seeing they coughed up 7 in the 9th definitely makes me glad I didn't stay up. Ah well, back at it today.

This seems to parallel the regular season: a stretch where the Sox are insanely good, just beating the hell out of other teams, then a switch is flicked and they look like the Fargo Fucksticks.
