Re: Wildlife Encounters
This was a scene at my mom's house a few years ago.

Holy moly. Is that normal?

Re: Wildlife Encounters
Very normal. And as you can imagine with that much wildlife there is also an abundance of turkey vultures.
Also there was more deer and turkey out of frame.

Re: Wildlife Encounters
Very neat. A couple days ago, in one of the suburbs here, a bear wandered into someone's backyard and wouldn't leave. Tranquilized and taken away.

Re: Wildlife Encounters
Reminds me of the in-laws place outside of Spokane, lots of deer & turkeys, but never together like that.

Re: Wildlife Encounters
Hello,
Wild turkey (the actual bird) is so much better than store-bought turkey.
Re: Wildlife Encounters
So I've heard, but my father in-law doesn't hunt the deer or turkey on his property, just for looks, so I'll have to try to sample some another way.

Re: Wildlife Encounters
The funny thing is I grew up there and if I saw "a deer" it was a big deal. Now you couldn't take a piss outside without hitting one. And then there's the turkeys, bears and coyotes. It's way more built up then it was 30-40 years ago so the wildlife isall condensed into very small spaces or have become like squirrels and are just everywhere.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑16 Jun 2021, 2:51pmVery neat. My sister-in-law (wife's sister) farms—grain, a bit of livestock—and is known as the person who takes in all the strays. Several years ago, a neighbour brought her a coyote pup, only a few weeks old, whose family had been killed. He fit with the other dogs, sleeping indoors most of the time, and then, after he was close to a year, yup, he decided it was time to go off on his own and never returned.

Went off to work at a gas station that still had a good tank of leaded in it. He'd hear that train whistle, squint, and see that train heading somewhere better. Because anywhere was better than this.JennyB wrote: ↑17 Jun 2021, 10:23amThat sounds like one of Kaleb's stories.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 Jun 2021, 6:43amMy sister-in-law (wife's sister) farms—grain, a bit of livestock—and is known as the person who takes in all the strays.
