Knew a guy in grad school who said that he put himself thru his BA writing porn fiction for Penthouse Forum and the like. He was a skilled writer (and a published novelist now) and he said once you understand the formula (like Silverberg's modules) he could bang them out in an evening.

Conservative columnist Florence King once talked about how she used to write soft core porn romance novels under a pseudonym because she figured out the formula and could do likewise.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 6:53amKnew a guy in grad school who said that he put himself thru his BA writing porn fiction for Penthouse Forum and the like. If you let go of the romantic notion of genius and inspiration on the side of the producer, and shift to the experience of the audience, it's all entirely justifiable, without resorting to the base "I gotta eat" argument.Wolter wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 11:24amConservative columnist Florence King once talked about how she used to write soft core porn romance novels under a pseudonym because she figured out the formula and could do likewise.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 6:53amKnew a guy in grad school who said that he put himself thru his BA writing porn fiction for Penthouse Forum and the like. Banging it out seems like the most appropriate way to write porn fiction.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 6:53amKnew a guy in grad school who said that he put himself thru his BA writing porn fiction for Penthouse Forum and the like. I can't help but think that the more you do that stuff, the less and less "stimulating" the work would be.Kimmelweck wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 12:25pmBanging it out seems like the most appropriate way to write porn fiction.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 6:53amKnew a guy in grad school who said that he put himself thru his BA writing porn fiction for Penthouse Forum and the like.
