NBA 2021

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: NBA 2021
I'm still in a state of shock. As a lifelong Milwaukee kid, my 2 sports dreams have always been the Brewers winning the World Series and the Bucks winning the NBA Championship. At some point you start to wonder if something like this will ever actually happen. I was full of nervous energy leading up to the game. We're going to Vegas tomorrow, so I had plenty to get done - which was great. 1st quarter was great, Bucks dominated. 2nd quarter was not so great. I turned off the sound because I was sick of hearing the broadcast team salivate over the Suns. 3rd quarter was better and by the time they got to the 4th I was feeling cautiously optimistic. They were starting to hit their shots consistently and were controlling the floor. When the buzzer sounded there were tears in the house, but then I took the kids and we ran up and down the street hollering. Lots of fireworks going off. We came back and drank 2 bottles of champagne (kids got sparkling grape juice). I'm exhausted and hungover. If I wasn't just about to go away for a week I would have taken today off, but wow - this is still so cool. I love this city so much and this team has been so fun to watch. Giannis is incredible. He could have made a lot more money in Brooklyn or LA. He could have gone to a super team, but he decided to stay here and the way he carried that team last night, I can't remember the last time I saw that in the finals.

Congrats, WWK (and our other Bucks comrades) — sounds like everyone had a blast last night!

Re: NBA 2021
I'll tell ya exactly what I HATE about NBA. I watched the Clippers playoff run. There was one game where the last 90 seconds took 25 minutes, and thats not an exaggeration. The rules change in the last 2 minutes and because of that a close game becomes an entirely different thing that it was for the first 46 minutes. And when there's little time left you can have the ball at half court? Imagine NFL, there's under 2 minutes, you can start at the 50. Or baseball, it's late in the game, you can have a guy at 2nd base. Wait a minute...BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑20 Jul 2021, 12:17pmIf you're not watching the NBA then you're missing out. There's a bias against the game that walks in lockstep with the countries own bigotries and biases. Not liking basketball and/or the NBA is an easy way to let 'em know you're a bigot without saying so. The league has been so much fun and I think people are missing out. It's among the last of the pro sports where the players have unscripted personalities that are big and loud and fun.

I don't get the need to make a spectacle of one's self. Just get drunk like a normal person. Maybe yell a little.WestwayKid wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 2:46pmPeople were also jumping into the Milwaukee River...which is not the best idea.tepista wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 1:39pmLiterally!
