7/7, confirming I'm better than Angel Hernandez.
That was fun. 6/7

My official take-it-to-the-casino-and-bet-your-life-savings prediction: It’s going to be like when the Dodgers and Reds upended those LaRussa A’s teams. Phillies in phive. Philadelphia burned to the ground afterwards.

This is the outcome either way.

I'm an optimist, so I prefer total destruction to be out of celebration.

Why is this an article in any kind of "publication "

Sports World Reacts To Derek Jeter Unhappy News
https://thespun.com/.amp/more/mlb/sport ... happy-news

Also I hate this fandom term of "nation ". Nor am I a fan of the collective "we" when people speak of their favorite sports teams. You aint fucking playing so stop trying to insuate that you are. I would have loved to play for the Yankees or any other baseball team but I was far from good enough so I need to accept that and settlefor beinga fan. A fan who is not part of the team.

Yeah, I’ve never been comfortable with the use of we that equates fan with being part of the team. We should only refer to fans talking about fans.

One of the things that’s funny—as in, get the fuck over it, Jeets—is how many players on the losing end of major moments accept it. Eck has done signings with Kirk Gibson; Mookie Wilson and Billy Bucks; Ralph Branca and Bobby Thompson; etc. It sucked at the time, sure, but it’s past tense and part of baseball lore. Pull the stick out of what I assume is your calm anus.

I don;t care about "we", I use it all the time, but I hate "true fan" anyone who who challenges other fans can fuck themself. Without casual fans I don;tthink any sport would survive.

True fans suck in sports, music, comics, anything. True fans are a beer fart in a crowded elevator.

That's one! Astros' sphincters gotta be tightening at the thought of "Not again …."

edit: And some positive memories for tep:

It's a fascinating thing how there are regular season guys, like Dusty Baker or Marty Schottenheimer, who just lose their magic on the big stage.

edit, jr: Just a saw a factoid that said Realmuto's extra inning WS HR was the first by a catcher since … Fisk, Game 6, 1975.

They must have loved it last night. All runs scored via homers.

If one needed to understand why Dusty Baker hasn’t won a WS as a manager despite a helluva strong career in the regular season, look at last night’s game. Coming off an extra day of rest because of the rainout, so his bullpen is full rested, he just leaves in his starter who is getting lit up, putting the game out of reach. Great playoff managers don’t let games get out of hand like that without changing pitchers. Blowouts happen, but you gotta do what you can to break up the other team’s momentum.
