Donaldson repeatedly taunted (he says it's an inside joke) Tim Anderson of the Meth Sox, calling him "Jackie." It comes from, as I understand it, an interview that Anderson gave a few years back where he compared himself to Jackie Robinson for being some kind of trailblazer. Plenty of ways that players mock and tease each other, but telling that Donaldson thinks that's the way to go after Anderson (and given his rep, Donaldson hasn't earned any benefit of the doubt). Sunday night, Yankees fans picked up on it and jeered Anderson by chanting "Jackie" at him.revbob wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 7:28amWhat happened?BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑23 May 2022, 9:55pmReally got to hand it to those Yankees. Assholes. Lots of Yankees fans aren't white so I hope it was a small but vocal minority. I really kind of hate sports fans much of the time. I had dinner in a pub last week with an old friend while in NY and the Rangers game was on. People wearig Rangers jerseys and just saying stupid things. No doubt if it was a Yankees game I would have heard similar brain dead comments.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 7:38amDonaldson repeatedly taunted (he says it's an inside joke) Tim Anderson of the Meth Sox, calling him "Jackie." I came across this article, Boone probably could have been more vocal but perhps more was said behind closed doors. I hope teammates have something to say to him as well.

The older I get, the more I dislike fans of … pretty much anything. Instead of an expression of love or admiration of a team or a band, it's become a cover for being a public asshole. Just the ugliest tribalism.revbob wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 8:09amAssholes. Lots of Yankees fans aren't white so I hope it was a small but vocal minority. Judge also made some mild comments, but even mild is more than you get from pro athletes when talking about asshole teammates. And I do get the desire to not create friction in the clubhouse, but bigots never seem to think they need to control themselves for the same sake. Donaldson is like AJ Pierfuckface in that every team he's on has players who either hate the guy or cover for him in some way.I came across this article, Boone probably could have been more vocal but perhps more was said behind closed doors. I aree with your fans comment. It can get like fundamentalist religions where you cant question things and group think is the order of the day.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 8:20amThe older I get, the more I dislike fans of … pretty much anything. Re Donaldson, I knew nothing about his history coming into this season. But people like that tend to be seen as the cancer they are an dont stay around long.

In short, Josh Donaldson made multiple references to Jackie Robinson while talking to White Sox star Tim Anderson during the weekend. Anderson took exception and this became public so the Yankees fans started chanting 'Jackie' at Anderson.revbob wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 7:28amWhat happened?BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑23 May 2022, 9:55pmReally got to hand it to those Yankees. This is the kind of shit that has turned me off sports. I can't route for Trumpers.

Re: MLB 2022
Put it this way, he was a cost-controlled all-star on the A’s, but Billy Beane got rid of him because he was such a colossal jerk. The Yankees are, what, his fifth or sixth team? Talented players who have c.v.’s like journeymen scream asshole; the kind of guy that teams realize will eventually wreck the clubhouse.

Re: MLB 2022
The whole Donaldson thing, for me, his explanation as it were does make sense as he claimed it was "an inside joke" between them, however it can easily be taken as racist, Donaldson is the only one who truly knows the intent in which the remark was said but how clueless can someone be to the social situation our country has been in these last 75+ years and really especially the last 10 or so to not understand that maybe that wasn't necessarily a smart thing to say to someone?
"Clueless" Josh Donaldson.
Clearly a prime example of a typical American of his generation, i'm sad to say.
On a less sinister note, I took a picture of my favorite towel. Its getting old and i'd really like to get a new one this year say around late October .....

From what I see there's still a little hope

Trout surprises a retiring local weatherman, who jumps out of his seat! I hope it starts at the right point, at 4:47

Jays might be playing like ass lately, but the LA Teps somehow outassed them.

Graveman and D. Cease on the Twins’s restricted list for the Toronto trip (ie: they’re not vaccinated). A bit on the nose…
