This took me 20 minutes :disshame:
I thought that was Beaneater for a minute. Im still not sure it isnt. It actually makes sense now how he is able to fund his travel budget and cocaine habit.
I'd never wear a dinner jacket over an old cumrag tshirt, c'mon.
It was the one thing that gave me pause but everyone has their low points.

Very sad news. Jethro had his demons. But losing two children is immensely sad.

Hello,

One of the (if not the) most difficult things is for a parent to bury their child. I'm sorry for your loss, Nick.

Can't even conceive what it must be like to lose one child, let alone two. Just terrible, my heart goes out to him and family.

Didn’t he die a few months ago?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I was confusing Fred Ward with Fred Willard who died two years ago.

We're going have the same problem when Bill Pullman dies.

I just had this mental image of a bunch of Bill Pullman's friends showing up at Bill Paxton's funeral, and a couple minutes exchanging confused then relieved glances, then leaving en masse.

Roger Angell, 101. His baseball season summaries in the New Yorker, later compiled into various books, are exceptional. A storyteller’s talent applied to sports. Honestly, if you’ve never read his stuff, it’s why we’ve fallen in love with that stupid game.

Wow, an impressive innings. I read The Summer Game some years ago back when I was a big sports book reader and loved it.
