Very sad. HDH were absolute songwriting monsters:

They wrote 25 #1 singles.

Leaving Here, Heat Wave, Where Did Our Love Go, Baby I Need Your Loving, Come See About Me, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Stop! In the Name of Love, This Old Heart of Mine, Standing in the Shadows of Love. I could go on and on.

They left Motown in the late-60s because they felt (probably rightfully) that Berry Gordy wasn't giving them a big enough cut. The resulting lawsuit lasted a decade.

Motown had not shortage of strong songwriting in the 60s.

the 2 I posted on Facebook were "Darling Baby" by the Elgins and "Band of Gold" by Freda Payne. So why did they stay in separate rooms on their honeymoon?

Holland-Dozier-Holland are arguably the most successful songwriters of all time based on chart success.
Messers Lennon and McCartney would like a word ....

I loved Holland-Dozier-Holland too, 2022 is turning out to be a really shitty year.

Indeed, I was specifically thinking of Lennon-McCartney. HDH wrote more hits than LMc. They didn't perform, of course, and their cultural impact wasn't as great, but in terms of chart success, it was HDH. Plus they took themselves out of the game with the lawsuit against Motown, so presumably they would have generated even more. Damn well amazing.

No question, the lawsuit pretty much ended things for them which is a shame because they were real talents and had a great feel for music.
Lennon-McCartney had 27 #1's. They also gave songs to other artists. Come And Get It being probably the best one. Both teams very talented and very successful.
Also, I don't think McCartney is an abomination, he's a legend and when it mattered most, in the early-mid 1960's, he stood up against racism which made a big difference in society.
Musically, ok, nothing much worth a shit since the mid 80's or so but he can still write melodies with the best of them, he just can't sing them anymore but shit he's 80 with a ton of mileage on him, and he still smokes weed at 80. He's like the british Willie Nelson.

Tough one after Bernard Cribbins. Two large chunks of childhood gone in such a short space of time.

With the exception of the one where Trump dies. Bonus points if it's in prison and it's a lingering, painful death.

McConnell would have to also die that year to make it a good one, considering all the other bullshit that will be happening on the remaining 364 days.
