This is hilarious and anytime I meet someone named Dave this song plays in my head, or just sometimes when I hear the name Dave. Its catchy as all hell too.
I only recently learned that Bruce wrote that years before KitH existed, when he was still in Calgary in a troupe with Mark.

To me its just infectious silly fun. That was one of the cuts from Bruce's album that I used to play that on the radio "back in the day".

Funny, but now I've got that annoying tune stuck in my head.

I just played it for the Mrs, she's not quite sure what to make of it.

Somewhat seriously, I'm a bit surprised by the (semi)naysayers as to this point I've never met anyone who knows it and doesn't love it.

Me too. I've always found this quite hilarious.

Of course, but still, when someone watches that and says it's not funny, or even just why someone would think it's funny, I'm kind of confused. Like, I don't think something like The Big Bang Theory is even remotely funny, but I get what the humour is.

On the naysaying note, watching the video was prompted partly by us catching the first episode of the KITH revival. My wife is a couple years younger than me, and had never heard of the show (she did recognize Dave Foley).

Her verdict was "not as funny as SNL", there was a decent chunk of humor that relies on familiarity with the cast or old gags that she didn't get, and she said she didn't like the fact there weren't any women in the cast. Fair enough.

I thought the first episode was decent, I watched the second one and thought it was much more solid tho. I'll be having to catch up on the new season when I'm by myself though, apparently.

I can see where the humor is, but I just didn't find it funny. But I wonder if you guys have the same reaction to any members of the KITH as I do with certain Python members. My man doesn't get the Python humor at all (nor any humor to be honest) but all I have to do is see Chapman or Palin on the screen and I'll start giggling. It's context, familiarity, perhaps. I don't know. Humor is subjective. *shrugs*

What's specifically strange there is that the Kids are clearly spiritual heirs of Python. If you're a Python fan, the Kids should make a lot of sense.

I would have watched the old episodes with her first.
