I associate that song with the King of the Hill episode where Bobby gets gout and needs to use a Rascal, but then it breaks down and he struggles to get to a dance to be with Connie. As "Love Hurts" plays, with every step we hear Bobby going, "Ow … ow … ow …"
"I never doubted myself for a minute for I knew that my monkey-strong bowels were girded with strength, like the loins of a dragon ribboned with fat and the opulence of buffalo dung." - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft

The finest use of that song ever.

Auschwitz and Buchenwald survivor, actor Robert Clary has passed, he was 96. I loved Hogan's Heroes.

An amazing life. I think he was the last surviving cast member. Loved HH as a kid, but as an adult I felt more uncomfortable by its seeming trivializing of WWII and incarceration, tho fascinated by the number of direct connections between Jewish cast members and the Holocaust. A complicated thing overall.

No question it was a strange concept/setting for a comedy show, but in 1964-5 the US was a strange place. Get Smart, the Munsters, the Addams Family, there were some strange shows being produced in that era. Schultz and Klink were perfectly cast and so were some recurring characters too like General Burkhalter. As a kid I loved it too, as an adult I see its nothing more than a comedy good vs. evil thing, just in a weird setting. Anyone who would diminish the suffering and death of the Holocaust has bigger issues than some TV sitcom.
