NFL 2022
Reminder that American football is a garbage sport designed to relegate players as fodder. Don’t watch it and enjoy autumn.

Re: NFL 2022
I used to love football (and I confess that there's still some romantic pull from seeing footage of 1970s era play) but becoming aware that these guys are slowly turning their brains to jelly with every hit made it really uncomfortable for me to enjoy anymore. I'll still watch some of post-season games but I'm not invested in any way now.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑06 Aug 2022, 12:40amReminder that American football is a garbage sport designed to relegate players as fodder. I am a life-long Jets fan, so obviously I don't like football much.

Quit yer complaining, they won a Super Bowl during your lifetime. Expecting more than once every half century is just, like, greedy.

Re: NFL 2022
They won just days after I turned 7, the only super bowl I knew of then was the one my mother used when she made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑06 Aug 2022, 8:01pmQuit yer complaining, they won a Super Bowl during your lifetime. And shit i'd settle for them just MAKING it to the superbowl. That hasn't happened since either.
If it wasn't for the Jets that year the AFL would have remained a secondary league. The "NFL" as it is today owes us its very existence.
So, we've been paying the price for it ever since.
Karma.

Re: NFL 2022
I was pretty much on the outs with the NFL but the pandemic redoubled my interest in all team sports. Can't help it. Go Pats.

Re: NFL 2022
Was a sports fanatic most of my life up to, I'd say, c.10 years ago where, for various reasons, the flame began to wane. I still watch a good bit of it, attend the very odd event, but it doesn't dominate my life like it sometimes did and I'm undoubtedly happier for it. I don't even have a paid sports channel now so a lot of the stuff I'd watch has to be worth the effort to seek it out. As BB suggests, there are so many other things to be getting on with.
Re: NFL 2022
I dont have a team I root for, haven't for a long time. Ive mostly been anti-Pats for the pastany years and even that gets old. If football ceased to exist I wouldn't care a bit.

Re: NFL 2022
Honestly, if football ceased to exist I wouldn't care either. It was always for me the least appealing of the North American sports and while I will watch a nationally televised game if there's nothing else on I want to watch or do, I simply am not into it anymore like a "fanatic".
