The Maple Leafs are such a clown car organization. Fired the best GM this team's had in like 30 years because Shanahan didn't like his vibes at an end of season presser. 12 hours between agreeing to an extension yesterday and "actually, no" this morning.

Fuck me. Supreme joke of a sports team.
I have to say, I read that whole story and was totally baffled by Shanahan's side of it. I mean, Brendan was a hell of a player in his day, seemed to be a thinking-man's player, but his decisions since retiring have been very strange indeed. From his time as the league's disciplinarian he's just made some weird decisions and rationales behind the decisions seem like they were spurred on by a magic 8-ball (and I don't mean the white-powder kind although that would explain a lot). I do not understand this most recent one though, its a head-shaker for sure. I feel bad for Leafs fans, they deserve better than this.
From what I see there's still a little hope

A Stanley Cup between Las Vegas and Florida? Hockey, huh.

We haven't figured out which team to root for yet. Vegas has two former Blues, but Florida has a Jewish guy.

Whenever the bruins aren't in it, I always just root for the cup to stay out of Canadian lands, so really I've already won.

This is not hard.

So another NHL season begins tomorrow. Does anyone care?
I used to really get excited for the start of hockey season, this season i'm very low-key about it. I'm sure my excitement level will pick up soon but for right now, for some reason, the usual anticipation I would feel is just not there.
I'm beginning to wonder if i'm "losing my religion" or something. :twitch:

Mrs. B is our biggest hockeyball fan here I believe, although I watch a lot of Bruins games. I'm not expecting a bunch from the Bruins this year, so I'm not letting myself get too wrapped up in anticipation. Gonna be more a Celtics winter, I suspect.
