Nomar is Mr. Mia Hamm. He's a nice guy.
He was my favourite Red Sock when he was with the team. The guy that brought me back to regularly following the team after a several year absence, in fact. A shame that his last few years there he was on the bitter, surly side. But at the start, damn, he seemed like a generational player.

I had to talk to MLB.TV customer service about something, i got through just about immediately, believe it of not, buy anyway, the call center guys asks favorite team, I guess that's in their script? So I say "Angles" and he says "That's a good team" and I laughed. Do they say the same when Pirates fans call?

Yes, except for the Mets part.

Looking forward to playing softball again this spring/summer.

I've sipped enough of the Chaim-aid that I'm modestly optimistic for the season, and looking forward to some games. I don't think they'll seriously contend, but I'm actually starting to anticipate some decent baseball getting played. Let's goooooooo

Yoshida is the only guy I'm genuinely interested in seeing. I want him to be the guy where teams kick themselves for not pursuing.

From Bob Odenkirk's memoir is a fantastic take-off on Abbott and Costello:
Steve and Leo’s “Who’s on First?”

Steve and Leo onstage, à la Abbott and Costello…

Steve: Well, Leo, it’s baseball time again.

Leo: I know, Steve, I’m a big fan.

Steve: So am I. You know, my favorite team of all time was the ’69 Cubs. But I can never remember the names of the players.

Leo: Oh, that’s easy. Let’s see … you had Santo on third, Beckert was on second, Banks on first …

Steve: That’s what I’m trying to find out, the first baseman’s name!

Leo: Banks—

Steve: The guy playing first.

Leo: Banks—

Steve: The man on first base.

Leo: Banks—

Steve: Look, all I’m trying to find out is, is Banks on second?!

Leo: Banks is on first—

Steve: I’m not asking if Beckert’s on first!

Leo: Beckert’s on second.

Steve: Ron Santo.

Leo: Oh! He’s on third!

Steve: (flabbergasted) How’d we end up on third?!

Leo: You said the man’s name!

Steve: If I said the man’s name, did I say Banks is on third?!

Leo: Banks is on first!

Steve: I’m not asking if Beckert’s on first!

Leo: Beckert’s on second!

Steve: Ron Santo.

Both: Third base!

I mean, I'm fairly interested in seeing what Casas and Bello can do. And he's a known quantity, but I'm extremely glad Devers is locked up and look forward to him becoming the leader of the Sox. And some vets like Turner are high character guys that could be fun to watch. It's like... half a team I'm interested/pleased for, and a bunch of question marksnand low-commitment scrubs. Which is the 2013 team, basically.

So you're saying there's going to be a bomb at the marathon? :shifty:

But if you're trying the sell this team to me, 2013 is the right button to press. Damn what a fun team.
