Re: MLB 2023
Joe Posnanski with an excellent, in-depth article discussing the new rule changes and the logic behind them: https://www.esquire.com/sports/a4309825 ... eball-mlb/
Not meant to belabor or relitigate any of the previous arguments here, but reading this gave me a lot of new insight into what MLB is hoping to get from these changes (also, somehow I did not realize that this has largely been Theo Epstein's project) and so is worth reading to at least consider what MLB is trying to do. From watching spring training games so far (which must be taken with a huge bucket of salt), I think the changes are having the desired effect but, well, we'll see in a few short weeks what a regular season under the new rules looks like.

Thanks for posting this. Anything by Pos is worth reading (well, his Houdini book was kinda bland) and, as usual, he explains things very, very well.Flex wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 1:09amJoe Posnanski with an excellent, in-depth article discussing the new rule changes and the logic behind them: https://www.esquire.com/sports/a4309825 ... eball-mlb/

Teams that win the Grapefruit League are acknowledged as the best team in baseball, right? That's how it goes? Asking for a friend (okay, not a friend, for Flex).

Oof, the faith in chemistry, industry, and technology in the postwar period was a predatory monster.
