Tim McCarver, who could be annoying at times, but who was one of the key voices of postseason baseball for me growing up.

SOME of us know him from his classic jazz album Tim McCarver Sings Songs from the Great American Songbook.

I, however, am not one of those people. Whatever his faults, he was an icon of the broadcast booth, I suppose. Called some dang important games in my life. I'll leave it at that.

Apparently, in the 80s and early 90s, he was a superb colour guy. Paired up with Joe Buck, I couldn’t stand him. I blame Buck for that because I despise Joe Buck.

Aw, that sucks. I’m not especially familiar with Raquel Welch’s film appearances, but I’m still in love with Tahnee Welch (Raquel’s daughter) from Cocoon (1985). Saw it in the theatre when I was 13. She didn’t inherit her mother’s bustiness (that’s quite alright by me) but she sure did inherit her mother’s looks.

(Little known fact* – Wilford Brimley was 34 years old when he was in Cocoon.)

*not really a fact

I mostly remember him from pulling his baseball cards out of packs in 1980, his last year with the Phillies.

Damn, he played some good tunes. RIP.

And pour one out for Flex's dashed dreams of scoring death pool points for Jimmy Carter. After years of Carter as a mainstay on my lists until the competition was canceled, Imy perseverance would FINALLY be paying off in 2023.

2 points is a pretty weak reward anyway. Even as he departs the earth, he holds on to his claim as history's greatest monster.

I'd have been able to hold Carter's 2 points over Hoy's 1 point for zsa zsa Gabor for the rest of our lives.

Sad victories are still victories, I guess.

Hello,

RIP Richard Belzer, 78.
The Belz. Sad. As an actor he was well-liked but to me he was always the stand-up comedian and just generally funny guy. Memories of him on the old Howard Stern radio show in the late 80's/early 90's, what a funny mensch. Those old tapes I made back in the day hold special places in my soul.
From what I see there's still a little hope
