Good Causes

Post by Kory »

I wanted to donate to the relief fund for the recent earthquake but I typically donate mostly to local stuff and don't have much experience with global charities. Has anyone done much research on the best places to go for this kind of thing, where the donation money is used properly and there's a minimum of shady activity/incompetence (as far as can be seen by the public)?

I've signed us up for a number of charities related to helping children (you come to the door and are looking for money for children or animals, yeah, skip the spiel, let's go to the sign up). I admit that I'm not all the discerning about it all. But I imagine UNICEF is a safe option.

Red Cross is probably a good option. You should be able to tag the donation for a specific cause, like the Turkey earthquake.
