If you want to spend your kid's tuition money on a cap, Ebbet's Field does wool replicas of vintage caps: https://www.ebbets.com/en-ca/collections/ballcaps
I used to have a Milwaukee Braves hat from them. It was pretty sweet at the time, but now I'd feel guilty about wearing anything to do with the Braves. Plus, a Milwaukee Braves hat just screams aging hipster in this city.
I’ve got a couple jerseys, but that heavy wool flannel means it’s very rare that I can ever wear them. Definitely not summer.
I played vintage baseball for about a decade and we played in full wool uniforms. It could be very terrible at times.

I read that ballplayers regularly lost 5–7 lbs in a game. Plus almost all that sweat would go into the uniform, making them heavier as the day went on. Just a nightmare.

I believe it. I'd play a full game and just be soaked. I can't imagine doing it day in and day out.

And consider that double-headers were fairly frequent and they’d have to be played primarily during the day due to no lights.

I've been thinning a bit these last couple of years. Never go anywhere without my trusty cap lately.

Oh, shit, I just remembered something from yesterday that I was going to post in the Limey thread, but it fits here. I was walking to school and passed a guy, maybe 25 years old, wearing a deerstalker and carrying a smallish doctor's bag. All he lacked was an oversized hooked pipe to complete the Sherlock Holmes look.

I wouldn’t have been bothered if someone punched him, so, yeah, definitely a hipster. Even had a big bushy beard.

I can't imagine what it would be like to play hockey (not field hockey, but ice hockey with all of the padding and such) in a warm environment. Rinks are freezing and VH, Jr. is just soaking at the end of a game.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
