I found out not long ago that the cast members of MASH get together every year for a meal. Real love between them. Fewer and fewer available every year.

I would have guessed that he'd already died, mainly cos I can't recall when he was discussed in the present tense. Alas. "Everyday People" is one of those massive songs in terms of when it was released, just as the Movement was getting more bitter and suspicious. A plea to remember common good.

I'm bummed he never had a proper comeback. I was super into him in like 05-09 and there was zero chance of seeing him live realistically.

I really need to watch that Questlove doc.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Not very knowledgeable but heard him doing Que Sera Sera on the radio just a couple of months back (not that old dirge, I thought) and it just done blew me away.

Hello,

RIP, Sly Stone...he never was fully appreciated.
I'm not so sure that is true, at least not in America. He is a musical icon, a genius that was destroyed by drugs. You can't touch that period from 68-72, nobody comes close. He is well respected, but it was drugs and probable underlying mental illness that ruined him.

That homeless looking man you saw in the past 40 years, was just a shell of a man, so sad. Legendary stories of him and Rick James freebasing for a week at a time, insane he lived to 82,
