A Sox Thought: Despite the W-L record not being eye popping, I'm enjoying this team pretty well. Maybe it's because my expectations were sub-basement, but it's mostly a pretty likeable bunch. Some guys I'd been sour on (Durran) obviously have made me reassess them and the new and young guys are mostly enjoyable. Nice to have guys like Story back in the fold with some decent performances adn puff pieces of mentoring the kids and whatnot.

All of which is to say, I'm also getting some sick pleasure in seeing Tanner Houck - whomst I still loathe - getting his shit rocked this season. Shoulda sold high on him when they had the chance. Luckily, it's not making me hate the overall team. If anything, it's a useful contrast in how much he feels like a man apart in how I view him.
Agreed all around, including re. that shitfuck Houck. I'm probably closing in to watching as many Sox games this year as I did all of last (tho part of that is finding a reliable pirate site).

I just noticed the stern looking Doc in the lower right of the pic, now can we find Flex and Beaneater in there as well.

Beaneater's in front of his Southie home, setting up a lawn chair on the street so that nobody will park there. Flex is flattening the tires of the school bus to preserve freedom.

Watching the Sox game and they said the Rockies' 8-42 is the worst first-50-games record since 1885. For reference, Ty Cobb was born the next year. Hell, professional baseball was only about a decade old at that point.

It's so fun out here in Colorado seeing history being made.

I don't think I've ever watched a game where it's a blow-out and a position guy comes in, but that's what's happening in Boston. The Orioles mop-up guy is just getting thwacked around. It's uncomfortable to watch. It's not competitive and just seems humiliating.

fake edit: Inning over. Sox got 13 runs in the 8th, to go from 6-3 to 19-3.

I'm on the road today and that was a lot of fun to listen to in the car.

The guy was just lobbing them in. Most of the time he couldn't find the plate, but when he did it was like video game slugging.

The Red Sox' Ikea uniforms the last several years are atrocious, but I don't mind these green ones.
