Association Football Thread

Sweet action for kids 'n' cretins. Marjoram and capers.

USA have to use the width of the pitch here. The high press fast pace not working. Netherlands happy to soak up all the play through the middle.

Hello,

We look tired. Players taking 3-4 touches when 1-2 would be best.

I'm curious to see how Renya responds to this situation.

Hard luck USA I think Netherlands experience showed. However USA can be proud of this side. A young side that shows real promise in my opinion. In 2026 this team will be a force.

Hello,

Agreed. We need a finisher. Pulisic is a good set-up guy. We'll be better in 2026.

My son turned it on and US was down 2-0 halfway thru. The Netherlands team at that point seemed happy to control the ball and burn the clock. A smart strategy for sure but makes for boring watching for a person like myself so decided to clean the garage instead.

Tritto (and thanks for the kind assessment Marky). My expectations were calibrated to this result so I'm not exactly shocked by the result. Both our strengths and weaknesses were on display, and fairly enough. If we can get a real finisher - and I think we will - 2026 will be pretty damned exciting.

I had a buddy over to watch the match this morning and one thing we agreed on is that, especially with concacaf having more parity than in years past, there'll actually be a good amount of fun national team soccer for the u.s. to watch before 2026 too. I think there's a level of interest in seeing this team develop together that I don't remember from casual viewers in past years.

Hello,

I'm not a fan of that nickname. The Dutch being Clockwork Orange and the South African men being the Bafana Bafana are much better.

4 games 12 goals and 3 clean sheets. Hard to fault that really.

I was sick of the negativity surrounding England before and going into the tournament. I was quietly confident we would do well and I'm happy to be proved right. Still gutted we scored the first goal when I went for a piss.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Maybe you need to make Hes take a piss at the start of every match to get the scoring started.

Hello,

A good last 60 minutes for England. Senegal was good the first 30 minutes. I hope Rashford is okay with coming on rather than starting. I hope Sterling's situation isn't bad.

Japan-Croatia tomorrow should be very good. Brazil-South Krorea could be fun but has the potential to be a one-way affair.

Because goals are worth less when you dont view them live?
