Does Hewitt write anything but Weller hagiographies?

He wrote one on Steve Marriott and one on Oasis, as well as an autobiography. Dunno about his other stuff. He's a great writer.

I was being semi-facetious. Hewitt's been carrying Weller's water in print for over twenty-five years now—magazines, liner notes, books. Basically Weller's court biographer. Nothing critical there.

Going to reread one of my favorite books, If on a winter's night a traveler by Italo Calvino.

Actually, he's got a hell of an axe to grind with Weller in this one, they'd fallen out before he wrote it and tries to hack someone who seems pretty much like any normal guy into pieces with things like "drinks too much, too much drugs, uninspired in 2006, tactiturn, the Weller of 76 would hate the Weller of today over and over".

He is a good writer. I don't know if he's as good as he thinks he is though.

I take it back then. Sort of. If he's writing out of personal animosity, it's little better than writing out of friendship.

It's more photos than reading, since it's a retrospective on his works.

I'm in the middle of re-reading Tender Is The Night. I've never finished it, but started it three times. I like it but it's just one of those books for me that I can't get through for some reason. Catch-22 was the same way for me, even though I really liked it I kept stopping for awhile and having to start over again...

1. Re: Tender is the Night - same here. I have no idea why.
2. Re: Catch-22 - Totally the opposite. I've read it like 5 times.

In October I was devouring Poe like candy. Also Richard Matheson, whose similarity to Stephen King made me respect King less. (though I still really like King.)

After graduating from Night Shift and 'Salem's Lot this summer to The Shining this fall, I am almost through the Stand.

I have book marks currently in these:

Goebbels - Ralf Georg Reuth

Truman - McCullough

Mussolini's Italy - R.J.B. BOsworth. The entropy of Italian politics makes for hard reading.
I'm so punk, I don't even take my leather jacket off when it catches fire. Which it does frequently, because of how fucking punk I am.
