IMCT Running Club

My 18 week marathon training program starts today !

Just completed a 10k in 45 minutes, not a bad start.

It has been two months since the Boston Marathon and I have just returned to the track after a long and heeling lay-off. There is a 5k in my town this weekend and I'm going to go for speed. I did nothing but run in training for the marathon, I have now switched it up and have been engaging in a weight training program at the gym. The few runs I have gone on I have been very fast and felt great, a lot of power.

Good start. Don't be a dope like me and keep your feet in newer sneakers. I swear bum shoes were the start of my leg problems this past Spring.

I wore in a new pair ready to start the programme. I am doing this one by the book and following a recognised program that has been recommended.
The 10k run is to get my max vo2 speed, which is the speed you run at during tempo runs. Mine is 6:42 mins per mile.

I did track/cross country in high school and I still run maybe 10 miles a week. I'd love to run more, but it kick starts my metabolism too much.
PS - well done on that 10K time.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Don't worry. It WILL come back to haunt him. I used to be the same.

Yep. There's only one cure for a fast metabolism -- age. And a thyroid problem. Ok, two cures. That I know of. :shifty:

Right around the mid to late thirties is when I noticed it.

A bullet also works.

If it kills you, it really speeds up your metabolism. Amazing what decomposition does for the figure.

Yup. I've had to up my exercise and lower my food indulgences when I hit about 38 just to keep at my preferred weight. I'm reasonably lucky, I guess, in that exercising does keep my metabolism reasonably high. And on that note, my morning rage ride along the South Saskatchewan River awaits …
