Oh good gravy, Ben Reilly is a solid character who I'm glad was resurrected, but recycling a quarter-century-old idea that *lots* of people hated the first time is beyond dumb.
I like Reilly, hate the Clone Saga. I stopped reading spandex comics because of the writing at the time.
This was one of several nails in the coffin for me for nearly a decade.
Onslaught was the other one for me. Re-reading it now, it's not actually that bad, but that's all retrospect.
Learning that things can get stupider?
edit: Sensible speculation calculated that eight months/24 issues would take the book to issue 900 and fifty years from Amazing Fantasy #15. So, yeah, they'll do eight months of Reilly and then the triumphant return of Peter Parker. Yawn.

I get it—their motivation has always been new readers, not placating us old fools.
X-Men, on the other hand, is cool as hell right now.

The Phoenix Force is fucking with the Avengers right now, and leaving the X-Men out of it for once, thankfully.

A small price to pay for everyone else finally getting on Magneto's page for once, I say.
