From ASM #169. I believe Clancy and Michele won some kind of contest and got to appear in a Marvel book with Stan.

Yeah. It’s mentioned in the letters page. They’re from some TV show competition

I missed that, but you're right—a Spider-man dance contest, whatever that is.

I also looked up Jameson's Wikipedia page and was amused by this:
Later Spider-Man writers Tom DeFalco and Gerry Conway agreed that J. Jonah Jameson was as close as Lee ever came to a self-portrayal, with Conway elaborating that "just like Stan is a very complex and interesting guy who both has a tremendously charismatic part of himself and is an honestly decent guy who cares about people, he also has this incredible ability to go immediately to shallow. Just, BOOM, right to shallow. And that's Jameson". Conway stated that whenever he wrote Jameson's dialogue, he would hear it in Lee's voice, and on one occasion even wrote a Jameson speech that was almost directly quoted from a Stan Lee speech.

He is kind of a dick, yeah. Not always, but often enough.

Really? The stuff I've seen of online interactions is that he's settled into owning his reputation as a chromium era hack, akin to Shatner owning being a smug ham.

Shatner is also a huge dick, though.

Right—that's my point. It's the self-awareness and playing it with it.

No, I mean he's a real, genuinely awful person who plays up to MAGA and alt-right sexism in nerd culture on twitter. Like, "I will not be sad when he dies" level dick.

Oh! I was not aware of that. I recall him making some sexist comment a few years ago, but I wasn't aware he'd gone to the MAGA side of things.
