I've been digging into Byrne's Namor run. Pretty short at only 25 issues before the hated Jae Lee takes over, but it's been really good so far. I have a digital version of his FF (thanks to Gene) that I'm hoping to jump to after, but I'd like to find physical copies if I can. I'm about halfway through his Alpha Flight, and his art just isn't as good there. The writing is fine, and sometimes funny, but I'm liking his other stuff a lot more. Will be re-reading Shulkie again soon as well.
He's stated that he never really got into AF, that it never gelled in his mind. I read a handful of issues, but it never did anything for me.
Did he co-create the characters? I thought he was the one who wanted to do the series. Well, at least when I'm done reading it I can free up some space by getting rid of this omnibus.

I can't quite recall the details but somehow he was forced to do AF, and while he co-created with Claremont, he kind of inherited the whole thing. I know that I'm missing something notable in all this, but he doesn't hold any special affection for it all, unlike FF or X-Men.

My kids are watching anime on TV right now. There is a bad guy named Dio and the trainer is called Tom Petty. They also keep playing the intro of "Roundabout" by Yes, but always cut away just after Jon Anderson sings the first line.

Does Dio go around saying "Look Out!"

Perhaps not, but you can be assured he's the Last in Line....

(....that's pretty much all I've got for Dio material, folks!)
You gotta give the people something good to read...

Maybe he's honouring the victims of thalidomide?

Just read Byrne's run on Namor, liked it a lot. Now moving into the era where he wrote it, but polarizing artist Jae Lee drew it. I'm warming up to him.

Byrne's incessant googling himself will eventually find this and he will interpret your comment as an insult, to which he will respond to it on his board with an insult. Well done.
