Re: Return of the Mighty Observations Thread
Always been milkshakes to me anyway. I had a period growing up where I could easily guzzle 3 of those bad boys, x large, at a single sitting, then ordered one a few years back for nostalgia purposes, and the sweetness of it almost made me gag.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 11:57amAre they actual milkshakes in Thatcheria? I remember it being that they couldn't be called milkshakes here because they aren't fundamentally dairy.Low Down Low wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 11:16amMcDonalds has run out of milkshakes. Re: Return of the Mighty Observations Thread
1) peel a banana and cut it into 4 pieces or so
2) freeze it
3) once frozen, blend it with some oat milk (the extra creamy stuff is best IMO)
4) add a flavour (strawberries, or cocoa powder etc)
5) blend
You get a better milkshake than any fast-food place can come up with. If you use just a splash of oat milk and you have a good blender or food processor it's thick like just melting ice-cream.
The bananas are best if they're slightly soft (spots on the peel) when you freeze them.
I tell no lie - it's magnificent.

My partner makes these all the time (very similar recipe). It's here fave dessert. We always have gallon freezer bags of bananas in the freezer.oliver wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 2:10pm1) peel a banana and cut it into 4 pieces or so

Re: Return of the Mighty Observations Thread
What's the reason for freezing the banana? Is it just to make the result cold or does freezing do something to the nature of the banana? Just curious whether you could do everything and then throw it in the fridge or freezer for a bit.oliver wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 2:10pm1) peel a banana and cut it into 4 pieces or so

Never tried making it and then freezing TBH. Might try it next time.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 3:29pmWhat's the reason for freezing the banana? I used to get excited when I saw a CD or electronics on sale somewhere, now it's when I see bananas on clearance because they're slightly browning. When Ingles stopped selling 5lb for $1.50 I was devastated.WestwayKid wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 2:12pmMy partner makes these all the time (very similar recipe). It's here fave dessert. Ice cream and milk in a blender. Replace milk with a Guinness or similar. Some Bailey's works well in a milk shake as well. Not sure of this bananas stuff.

Bailey's in floats is super good, too. The Boss normally buys a bottle of it around Christmas and it replaces cream in my coffee until it's gone.

My mother didn't drink, but she loved Bailey's. She had one of her son-in-law's buy it for her, because she didn't want people at thee liquor store to think she was an alcoholic.revbob wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 6:49pmIts great to just splash some over ice cream too.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021, 6:16pmBailey's in floats is super good, too. I went to pick up a book I ordered earlier. But when I got to the store they told me I was mistaken.
