Ive done that too. Worked 12hour night shift in the winter. The up side was I once went two years not getting my car inspcted because the cops cant see your sticker in the dark.Flex wrote: ↑06 Dec 2021, 5:06pmI think I've made this comment here before, but last time I worked a full-time on-site office job during Dec/Jan (particularly) I would get to the office before the sun came out, not leave until after the sun set, and had a desk not near any windows so I would go about 2-ish months without seeing natural light during most of my workdays. It was so insanely depressing. When I'm in a work-from-home and flexible schedule (like now), the early sunsets are much more pleasant.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑06 Dec 2021, 4:31pmI enjoy winter in the evening, when the early sunset is kinda charming. But it still being dark or, at best, dim, as late as 8 am is dispiriting.

It broke my heart a little bit reading this.

My wife was giving me shit about my CD collection earlier (Im sure it is dwarfed by some of you ). She said people dont listen to CDs anymore they use Spotify. I said Spotify is for people who think Adam Levine makes good music.
That ended about as well as you might expect.

I use Spotify. I can get behind some Maroon 5 songs.revbob wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 1:02amMy wife was giving me shit about my CD collection earlier (Im sure it is dwarfed by some of you ). Your theory checks out.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I'll say this: when I pull out my Christmas collection every year, it underscores for me how much music I listen to that a) isn't available at all on these streaming services, and/or b) isn't available in my preferred mastering or track configuration. Not saying it's, like, most of my collection but I'd say a solid 30%+ or more of my holiday music isn't available to stream (or stream the way I want it).

Re: Return of the Mighty Observations Thread
I recreated most of my playlists from college onward on Spotify and there were holes in almost every single playlist. However, a lot of the holes have been filled in in the last few years. In other words, Spotify is getting more obscure stuff. Ironically, there are some Rolling Stones songs from their 40 Licks comp that are still missing from my Summer mix since they aren't on Spotify.Flex wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 12:41pmI'll say this: when I pull out my Christmas collection every year, it underscores for me how much music I listen to that a) isn't available at all on these streaming services, and/or b) isn't available in my preferred mastering or track configuration. Youtube seems to not have these gaps, though I don't find the interface appealing or helpful as an audio streaming platform.
