Yeah I mean okay but admit you totally smiled like a little kid when Billy Dee came on screen.
Fuck yeah. And with Palpatine seemingly involved, all the major figures have come back and get a send off. Star Wars will always be something where I kid because I love. Even when it's bad, it's still Star Wars, so it's good.
It's crazy how just hearing the theme song in a trailer can send chills up my spine. I am not a science fiction guy...but there is something about those films that just hits me. E9 looks like it could be a good one and my hope is that it's the best one - giving the series the send off it deserves.

A story as old as time. An enslaved 9-year-old drag-racing robotics expert falls in love with an 18-year-old democratically elected queen and is adopted by magical space samurai with the help of his best friend, a klutzy pidgin-speaking alien frogman. And then there are trade disputes. Oh, the trade disputes.
Well, when you put it that way, it sounds ludicrous!

The one in December finishes off the Skywalker story. Rian Johnson, who directed the last SW movie, has been given a trilogy to develop his own SW-related story, but I have no idea when that'll be coming out.

That seems risky on Disney's part, considering how panned E8 seemed to be (I haven't seen it yet). Is it more positively regarded than Twitter might have me believe?

A loud, angry minority hated it. It was critically well received and made a gorillion dollars. I didn't care much for it in the theatre but liked it much more at home months later. It's got problems of construction, but I didn't have any issues with the themes or tone.

Cut down the casino scene or maybe eliminate it and its a great movie.

My chief problem was that it never felt cohesive, but rather a bunch of character narratives that don't sit well together as a single story. Yet, at the same time, the pacing is one of near-constant omigod-we're-all-gonna-die. It lacks an ebb and flow of relief and danger to maximize the sense of peril when it's needed. It's a solid story but I think it could have been constructed better to improve the effect.

I won't disagree with anything you said. Ill also be honest and say I don't remember a whole lot of it. I was mainly in awe of Daisy Ridley's beauty most of the time. But yeah it was a good movie.

And, again, I liked it more when I watched it a second time. I was also somewhat unsure about Rogue One when we saw it in the theatre, but when I watched it at home months later, I thought it was fantastic. Solo was great in the theatre, just as much fun at home. It's a real shame that seemingly we won't be getting more Han Solo movies.
