Every time I'm confident I don't have a drinking problem, I read that the definition of "binge drinking" is 5 or more drinks in one night at least once in the last 30 days and it's like... uhhhh... define "night"

"5 or more drinks" fuck I would blitzkrieg that in just over an hour back when I was seriously on it. I remember one night after a lock-in my pub landlord was holding this big plastic tray of pint glasses that you put directly in this huge dish washing machine. I said "hey Adrian wanna hand with that?" He replied sure "being they are all your empty glasses".

A long time ago, I read a piece on skepticism in statistics that emphasized clarity of definitions for measurement. The example that I recall was of binge drinking. The American definition was more or less what Flex cited, while the English one referred to, like, drinking steadily for 8 or more straight hours. Comparing binge drinking stats made no sense because of that.
