Frustratingly close to sweet, total oblivion department: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2 ... 93b34117f3
The city that would have been killed was Omaha, so … *shrug*.
I believe that's where For Against is from. Can we vaporize Dubuque instead?
I've stopped in Dubuque, so there's no reason for it to exist anymore.
Damn, we could have zapped it while you were there.
You can be damned sure I wouldn't have gone there if I knew a meteor was going to wipe it out. The old grey matter's always working.

Yeah, but I'm always checking with Wally, asking whether there's any news from the future that I need to know about. I'd trust him to warn me to not go to Dubuque.

I'm still a little concerned that you wanted to be there in the first place.

It was while I was engaging in my ill-considered decision to go to grad school in Iowa. The Boss came down and wanted to go to Dubuque because it used to be a fur trade post, which meant it had significance to Metis history.

It's main significance to me is that Bill the Cat is from there.

My one regret about my short time in Iowa City (apart from actually going there) is that I didn't realize that much of the town inspired the the strip, including the boarding house. I would have made a point of hunting that down.

Oh I didn't realize that either, I thought Dubuque was just a funny enough random town to call on.

Also, I just noticed I put an apostrophe in "its" above—sorry about that.
