Yeah, you also have to do a guest spot on Sex & the City.

Stumbled upon a Seattle band called Waves Crashing. Know 'em? Thoughts? Grievances?

Yeah I've seen them live a couple times, I'm becoming quite a fan. I find their sound to have more of a ring of the early 90s than a lot of "nu-gaze." They're all really nice guys, very grateful for any support.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑31 Mar 2025, 6:32pmStumbled upon a Seattle band called Waves Crashing. Know 'em? Thoughts? Grievances?

But how much flannel do they wear?

They're more of a black t-shirt group, but I can't speak for their lounging-around-the-house clothing.

The stuff I heard was good, tho not overly distinctive. Gun to my head: better than Pearl Jam.Kory wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025, 3:53pmYeah I've seen them live a couple times, I'm becoming quite a fan. I haven't found most gaze after the '90s to be very distinctive, it's not a terrifically versatile genre unless the artist is fusion-minded.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025, 4:02pmThe stuff I heard was good, tho not overly distinctive. Re: FAO Kory
That's fair. Still, while I'd struggle to explain how or why, I can usually tell Russian shoegaze or Japanese from American or British. There is an aesthetic calling card, so to speak.Kory wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025, 7:10pmI haven't found most gaze after the '90s to be very distinctive, it's not a terrifically versatile genre unless the artist is fusion-minded.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025, 4:02pmThe stuff I heard was good, tho not overly distinctive. Ha, that seems about right.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
