Re: hey beaneater
Remember 6'01" Jerry Sichting (pronounced sea-sting, if I recall) got in a fishtfight w/ 7'04" Ralph Sampson?
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

(complete with 1986 commercial break)
Sichting doesn't do much but Walton wraps up Sampson and brings him down.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
Re: hey beaneater
Typical of a Boston sports fan getting so excited by seeing a white man take a black man down.rcs wrote: sampson was one soft 7-footer.... walton took him down like a paper doll

If I recall, in that era (mid 80s) fights were out of control, and the comish finally stepped in and put stricter punishment on the books.

Sampson was pretty skinny and trust me, being tall and skinny makes it hard to stay up. A gust of wind or an uneven sidewalk is enough to topple me over.rcs wrote:rcs wrote:nice one, hoydogpondering.... but, i also duly noted that DJ clocked Sampson, too....matedog wrote:Typical of a Boston sports fan getting so excited by seeing a white man take a black man down.rcs wrote: sampson was one soft 7-footer.... walton took him down like a paper doll

Re: hey beaneater
I'd go after someone wearing that jacket too. If I were a fan and some away team player started beating up the guy next to me, hell yeah, I'd jump on his 7' back on wail away.rcs wrote:sure were...tepista wrote:If I recall, in that era (mid 80s) fights were out of control, and the comish finally stepped in and put stricter punishment on the books.
