Just munched a huge fuck off bowl of Shreddies. Now I'm on a bag of Monster Munch pickled onion flavour. I hope this Heston diet really works.
Are Shreddies popular there? I've always gotten the impression that they were like a kid's starter cereal and that you moved on the Shredded Wheat when you were an adult. (Yeah, I eat Shredded Wheat every morning. I used to make porridge, but I got lazy. Stirring a pot at 5.45 am seemed like too much work that early.)
Yeah popular here. Not a starter cereal.

My chief objection to Shreddies vis a vis Shredded Wheat is that the former soak up milk too quickly and can become slop if you're not quick enough. SW maintains its integrity longer. This stuff is important.

A couple months ago, I fucked up and bought the serious hay bales—those jumbos where you can fit two or three in a bowl. (For some reason I thought they changed the box colour. It was a genuine senior moment for me. I'm about ten years away from giving out my credit card number to anyone claiming to be a long-lost relative in trouble.) Given that my food preferences are largely textural rather than flavour, it was a miserable week or so getting thru that.

We still have that hearty pioneer spirit up here that requires eating like horses and cows.

Are we talking Shreddies or Shredded Wheat Bite Size?
They have a habit of changing the names across borders.

In Canada, Shreddies are the flat squares; mini-hay bales are bite-size Shredded Wheat. Shreddies also seem kinda glazed.

We have a few types of Shreddies. Frosted/Chocolate/Normal.

Same with Shredded Wheat.
Standard (big ones)/bite size (mini)/ Honey nut .

I've seen maple-flavoured Shreddies and there's some kind of chocolate-covered Shredded Wheat out right now. I stick to the plain ol' plain ol'.

Yeah me too. The frosted Shreddies are fine but I'm happy like you with the plain. Chocolate covered Shredded Wheat just sounds wrong.
