This came up on some show the other night and my wife asked me and I said sounds like a french fry sandwich.

All the kids at school used to buy stottie cakes straight from the bakers. We would hollow out the stottie, shoving the still warm bread straight down our necks. Then the stottie would be filled with Monster Munch or the crisps of your choice and devoured.

Their texture isn't much different from most corn chips, they just throw lots of salt based flavorings on them.
