Grilled shrimp tacos again. I wanted to do a few rib eyes because they are cheap this week but my kid is some kind of heathen who doesn't like steak. Either I don't do it right or his tastebuds are defective.

Apropos of nothing, I had the best shrimp tacos of my life last week at this little hole in the wall place. And they were $3.00/each.

I usually make decent shrimp tacos myself, but for some reason I made an amazing batch a few weeks ago. I don’t know what I did differently, but the stars must’ve aligned.

I have never made anything that would qualify as "amazing."

I'm not sure how I'd describe their taste—they very much depend on the condiments you use. Like tofu in that regard. They succeed more because of their texture, which does simulate hamburger fairly well. The Beyond Meat brand is the best in that regard. A person could definitely tell the difference between actual hamburger and these, but it's not miles apart.

Yeah. It’s close enough that unless you were vehement about maintaining a carnivore lifestyle at all times you would have no reason to complain eating one every. Now and then.

That's about the same price as here—$8 for 2. It's definitely pricier than beef, but that's a part of it still being a new product. As more competitors come into the market, the price will come down. Meanwhile, a few fast food place offer them, too. Keep your eye out and you should be able to try one at a cheaper price.
