Lamb mince, loads of garlic, paprika, chilli powder, oregano, salt & pepper and an egg to bind it. Slow cooked it for 9 hours and crisped it up in the oven. Got some good shavings off it and whacked it in a pitta with salad and lashings of chilli sauce. Heaven.
Been on a healthy diet for 4 weeks now and I'm frothing at the mouth reading this.
It was great but sadly we're down to the shit in the bottom of the cupboard now.
Ah, a nice mug of pasta. That's how this thread started if you look back.
Not sure about nice but glad I've navigated this thread full circle.
Time to close it up, guys!

Sadly not, though the flavour was spot on, I couldn't get long nice strips from the finished product. It easily fell apart while trying to thinly cut it due to the slow cooking.
Oh yeah, that sounds good.

That's a shame though not having good doner over there, what's the go to after too much ale?
Pizza, Jack in the Box tacos, and "Mission Dogs" which is the San Francisco name for bacon wrapped street hot dogs. I think they are called different things in different parts of the US. This is what the stand looks like:

The cooking onions and well placed stands (they are mobile, so they'll park outside of bars/clubs) are pretty key. On the real though, Jack in the Box tacos are probably my #1. They are horrid things, but become magical when combined with alcohol:

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I'm sorry but every time the English post photos of their beans, I can't help but think it reminds me of something people would eat in the Great Depression.

Hey, I just had a couple pies and mushy peas the other day, and beans with breakfast. I don't need to be reminded.

Bet those mission dogs are great, bacon wrapped hot dogs with chilli and onions would come close to the doner for me. Also, not enough places here do tacos, let alone good ones, I'd be well up for one of those after a few.

Just to clarify, Jack in the Box tacos are disgusting. But amazing under the right headspaces.
