I managed to track down an issue of Captain Canuck back in the day. It was not good.

And their politics is directly inspired by the worst of American politics and media. These same morons in Alberta were declaring their own recent wildfires "fake news" and a plot to have people leave so that homeless people could be sent in to loot.Mimi wrote: ↑07 Jun 2023, 2:10pmWait, wait, wait, hold up. Some say this is a good thing, as nature is supposed to burn things; others say this is a false flag operation run by eco-terrorists and/or the federal government so that they can take away … everything, I guess. This part is pretty safe as long as you aren't along the rivers or lake. Im close to them but not tbat close and at a pretty high elevation. One thing that sucks is the community gardens got flooded/wiped out and many of the people with plots there are small businesses or immigrants doing partial subsistence farming. The capital is flooded pretty good, its right along a river.

Relieved that you're okay, but, yeah, awful about the community garden.revbob wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 5:20pmThis part is pretty safe as long as you aren't along the rivers or lake. I just rode to the mouth of the river. The river is moving really fast and is several feet higher. I kayak up the river all the time but you couldn't do it now, you couldn't go up river without a motor. Lots of debris floating by too and no doubt plenty of shit below the surfaceDr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 5:42pmRelieved that you're okay, but, yeah, awful about the community garden.revbob wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 5:20pmThis part is pretty safe as long as you aren't along the rivers or lake. I don't mean to minimize what others are facing like capital city.

I saw the flooding on the news earlier, I was going to ask you but Doc beat me to it.

Thanks. I was talking to someone who is involved in the emergency response and he was saying this far there have been no deaths attributed to the flooding. That was certainly a great thing to hear.Sparky wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 8:41pmGlad you and your family are on dry ground, hope everything stays that way.revbob wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 5:20pmThis part is pretty safe as long as you aren't along the rivers or lake. Yee haw, had a tornado on the southern end of town in the last half hour. Wasn't too bad where we are—no real wind, a few minutes of really strong rain. Still, it's the first time I've ever gotten a warning message on the phone, which caused a little stomach flip.

I have my phone turned off at night. If the apocalypse comes, don't wake me up. And if it's a false alarm, don't wake me up.Mimi wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 2:40pmGlad you're safe.
