I've done one round of shoveling already despite it still coming down like a bastard. It's not expected to end until late afternoon/early evening, so it's still gonna be evil to clean up.
I expected up to 8 inches overnight, and had planned on spending a couple hours snowblowing/shoveling this morning. Only got a light dusting, maybe an inch if that. Very pleased.
Curious given that I think Toronto got hit pretty hard.
The lake effect thing is so unpredictable. Just a few degrees change in wind direction means the difference between a dusting and a dumping. I'm midway between Lakes Erie and Ontario. If the wind is directly out of the west, it comes across southern Ontario and the snow can be depleted before it reaches me, but a slight swing to the south west, and the wind picks up moisture across 200 miles of Lake Erie and I get slammed. Toronto is like 50 miles away from me, as the loon flies, so it is curious. I lucked out this time I guess. Haven't checked the news, but I wouldn't be surprised if parts of Buffalo just south of me got 3 feet.
Funny how such sweet spots exist. Generally speaking, revbob and I get the exact same weather despite being around 300–400 km apart.

My parents got me this thing for Christmas. It’s a “snow cab” attachment for my snowblower. I thought about it for a bit, and just recently returned it. It cost almost $150, and just didn’t seem worth the trouble. I figure the plastic windows would be cloudy in a few years and it would just wind up in a landfill after 10 uses. Nice thought, but I just couldn’t imagine it would improve the snow-clearing experience enough to bother with. Get me a sit-down enclosed riding snowblower, and I’d be all in.

Already have one. I use it for burning the weeds out of the cracks in my driveway.

Just clearing pics off my phone and found this. Kinda sorta weather-related. Shot this photo out of my kitchen window at sunrise 2 weeks ago. My grandfather planted the 3 trees in the foreground about 75 years ago :approve:. The middle tree got messed up in the October storm in 2006.

According to the weather people, we had thunder freezing rain here for the first time since 1985. Pretty nasty weather, tho Montreal got it far, far worse.

Do guys do this because they're really hot or is it because they want to prove how tough they are? I'm leaning toward the latter until proven otherwise.
Tough/cool. Unless you're Kevin Smith; then it's about trying to manage obesity sweat.

Man, it's alarming how he looks now. Good for him, of course—a lot of tough discipline for that kind of weight loss. But I suspect that's easier than making another good movie. Dogma is almost a quarter-century old.

His body horror film about a podcaster being turned into a Walrus is going to gain in reputation over the years, but yeah, Dogma's the last one I would unreservedly recommend.

Looking at his Wikipedia entry, Clerks II is the last movie of his I've seen, and that was years after it was out and was on a movie channel. And it was fucking dire. Yet he must still have a reliable enough fanbase to still get movies made.

Because of forest fires—I'm assuming it's in Quebec—the air here is smoky and the sky is yellowish. I told the Boss that it looks like how the world was for me with cataracts. (Mind you, I didn't realize it until I got my new lenses and found out how yellowed everything had gradually become.)

Sacre bleu we are dealing with this too. I couldn't see across the lake today.
