March 3rd and Lake Champlain is nearly frozen over at its widest part. I walked out about a half mile. The ice was thick but mine were the only footprints for quite some time and nobody else around. I figured I shouldn't tempt fate so I turned around.

You're letting us know you're fat enough to crush lake ice under your feet?

Twiggy didn't destroy that ice. Ha! Obscure and dated reference.

Another 17 inches of snow overnight. More avalanches in the area, and we're in an "extreme" avalanche danger warning for the first time in years. Things are gonna slide everywhere. I'm gonna have to go home and try to dig out my driveway and deck a little bit this afternoon. Best skiing in a decade tho, pure magic.

Has your winter been snowier than normal?

above average Oct/Nov/Dec, then average Jan/Feb, but early March has been massive. We got hammered last weekend and we have a series of successive storms that are coming in one after the other until around the 14th. We're at 131% of our average snowpack for this time of season.
