Thanks, guys. Nothing has happened yet. If it keeps moving off to the Atlantic, we might not see much of anything. I was prepared for a night of wind and rain. I'm thankful, tho.

I got up extra early this morning to shovel the front walk. Most snow ever received on 11 Nov in Ottawa. I feel blessed to have lived that historic day.

We had a pretty severe cold snap and snow in late October (which was great for getting some ski areas open) but now it's warm and dry. I'm probably the only person on this board wanting more cold and snow, lol.

We haven't had any rain yet this season (starts mid-October) and none in the 10-day forecast. If this doesn't change soon, things are going to get dire. State water issues being the important one, Tahoe ski season being less important.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

MrsW in Sydney and apparently the smoke from the fires even in CBD is really bad. Lots of people can’t get to work from suburbs.

I was talking to a lady from Sydney today at work. She came over on Tuesday and before she left she took her daughter and 2 cats to family as she couldn’t leave them in the house which may not be there when she gets home tomorrow.

It's -23C with the wind right now. That's goddamned January temperatures.
