This was a historically bad storm – like, probably Buffalo’s worst storm on record. Missing out on family Christmas festivities is a minor inconvenience in comparison. I went to the grocery store today and the shelves were nearly empty with super long lines. I shop at Tops, different location but the same chain where the mass shooting took place in Buffalo earlier this year. Two other Tops locations nearby, which I’ve been to, were robbed/looted during the early stages of this storm, so they remain closed. Total shitshow here, but I’m super lucky my family is safe. Otherwise, we have gorgeous summers. Traffic is never a pain in the ass. We have lakes, rivers…best kept secret in the USA. But whatever you do, don’t move to Buffalo, because every 20 years or so, it kinda sucks a little. Go Bills!

Yeah I saw that story earlier. So sad, and just a few minutes from getting home too. It really was just absolutely shitty white-out conditions with zero visibility. Such a shame no one could get to her in time, but this area was just paralyzed.

Getting some decent thundersnow right now. Snowing rather mildly - will probably only get 1-3 inches today. But I just heard a huge thunder crack that went on for almost 10 seconds and shook the neighborhood. I don’t mind it.

We've got light snow right now, but supposed to be around 15 cm by tomorrow morning. Fine, as long as it's powdery and not slush. And it's cold enough that that should be the case. Meanwhile the pile on the curb in front of our house is about 5.5 feet. City can haul that shit away any time now …
5.5 feet? When is that from? Despite the crazy amount of snow I got around Christmas, it’s all melted on its own, even the curbside piles, and my lawn was green up until a day or two ago. We had a nice warm spell for January though, which is about to come to an end.

Agreed. I already love ordinary thunderstorms, and thundersnow is similar but without the drenching rain.

Nothing but open lawn on the other side of the fence, so I wasn’t creating more work for anybody, but I still avoid it until there’s no other option.
