I loved Robert Caro's book of Paul Simon's controversial city building.
I never thought a person could write 300 pages on "Mrs. Robinson," but, damn, he pulled it off.
Well, this is what we get with Caro's focus on all the minorities displaced in the construction of "Mrs Robinson" and the deals that had to be struck to clear a route through part of what was technically New Jersey.
Look, the old Joe DiMaggio-style streets weren't equipped to handle the traffic of postwar America.
That time and money would have been better spent on public The Sounds of Silence to discourage the car's further use!
Eh, the label would have dubbed electric infrastructure in when they were touring europe anyways

The Vourdalak (2023) Pretty cool French adaptation of the Aleksei Tolstoy story we've seen from Mario Bava in 63 and as Night of the Devils in 72. (SHUDDER)

Mission: Killfast (1991) TV Mikels action romp about arms dealers and a girly magazine. Coincidentally a career killer for both top-billed stars, as it was the final acting credit for both Tiger Yang and Sharon Hughes. This was the bonus movie on Vinegar Syndrome's Doll Squad blu (Blu-ray)

Mulholland Drive (2001) David Lynch's neo-noir about an aspiring actress and the mystery behind an amnesiac with a purse full of money. Naomi Watts and Laura Harring are a pair of knockouts, to say the least. (Par+)

Fräulein Devil AKA Captive Women 4 (1977) A train full of nazi hookers travels the countryside offering services to the troops, and weeding out would-be traitors to the Fatherland while they're at it. Not quite as brutal as other Nazisploitation films. (DVD)

The Eerie Midnight Horror Show aka Enter the Devil (1974) A young art student has dirty dreams about about a sexy Jesus-on-the-Cross statue (Ivan Rassimov) and eventually needs her demons exorcised by Luigi Pistilli. From the director of Play Motel. (Fawesome)

Witching and Bitching (2013) Take you kid to an armed robbery day surprisingly goes wrong and the crooks flee to an old secluded hotel run by a coven, who was expecting them, as prophesized. Good comedy from Álex de la Iglesia. Macarena Gómez with her cool eyes is also in Dagon and 30 Coins (Kanopy)

The Jaguar (1963) He's sort of a Mexican Robin Hood in the old west, who falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy land owner. He's unaware that he's the rightful heir to that valuable land, as his family was slaughtered for it when he was a toddler. The ladies are Sylvia Sorrente and Marta Reves. A light western from Jess Franco.

Freaky Tales. Highly recommended. An insanely wonderful gem of a movie. It also features some fun - and in one case quite unexpected - cameos. Great acting, fun/clever story.

King Kong, 1933. Although I only caught a little over half of it, I loved it. The special effects were pretty good for the time period and I giggled over quite a few bits.

A Real Pain, Oscar nominated I believe. What an annoying movie which is a shame considering the subject matter. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21823606/

The Boss dialed that up a few weeks ago. I was meh on it, largely because I don't like Jesse Eisenberg. That Culkin brother was okayish, tho, I suppose.

Love OG King Kong. The special effects still really hold up all things considered and it's got a beautifully pulpy quality to its adventuring.

He plays the same character in every movie / program he's on. I did like Kieran Culkin in this movie, however.

Watched a film on tv with him in it a while back about David Foster Wallace and both him and the film sucked in a very major way. There was one I did like which was set in Staten Island but that had Marisa Tomei in it so i could probably forgive anything!

The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989) Having rid Tromaville of all crime and in need of money for Claire's eye surgery, Toxie takes a job at an evil corporation and looses sight of what matters. Phoebe Legere is great in this. (SHUDDER)

Highway Racer (1977) A cop who drives too fast needs to drive faster so he can infiltrate a gang that also drives fast. Not my kinda movie but I wanted to finish the otherwise great "Years of Lead" box from Arrow. No J&B, no skin, Lilli Carati wasted, I hated this movie. (Blu-ray)
Inland Empire (2006) Sorry Dave, I love ya, but this one didn't do it for me. Too long, too slow, didn't care for the characters. Glad to get it off the bucket list, but there's no realistic scenario that I would revisit this. (Max)

The Aftermath (1982) An astronaut lands on the California coast to find the population ravaged by a nuclear apocalypse. He makes friends and battles mutants and a vicious gang led by Sid Haig. Written, directed, produced and starring Steve Barkett. (Night Flight)

Lisa and the Devil (1973) A tourist is separated from her group and through curios circumstances hitch hikes her way to an old villa with sinister inhabitants and wax mannequins in Mario Bava's surrealistic gem, with Telly Savales and Elke Sommer. (DVD)

Caged (1950) Eleanor Parker is 19, knocked up, and in the slammer for something her husband did. Agnes Moorehead is a warden fighting for humane conditions for her prisoners. The system is rigged against both of them. 3 Oscar noms for this A+ WIP. Highly recommended (TCM)

Massage Parlor Murders aka Massage Parlor Hookers (1973) The plot is as advertised, and New York's angriest cop is on the case. Angry because his favorite hooker was first on the list. Far more entertaining than expected, and with a final 60 seconds as good as anything! Reminded me of Blood Feast (Night Flight)

Frightmare aka Cover-Up (1974) 15yo Debbie, kicked out of the convent and in full blown delinquent mode, is a handful for her adult sister Jackie, who keeps appearances that their parents are long dead and not institutionalized since 1957 for murder and cannibalism. Pete Walker's best movie. (Blu-ray)

Countess Perverse (1975) She and the count pay a swinging couple to provide young, attractive females for a weekend of island debauchery, and blood-dripping, Flintstone-sized plates of mystery meat. Wild game she calls it, and she hunts it herself. Good one with Lina Romay from Jess Franco

Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41 (1972) After a year in solitary, Matsu and six others make a jailbreak, where they encounter among other things, a witch, and a busload of casual rapists, all while trying to stay two steps ahead of the prison guards who are now in shoot-first mode. Being away from prison, there are a lot fewer shower scenes in this one, but possibly even more violence and humiliation, and again, very cool color schemes in this great, arty, exploitation. The second in the Scorpion series. (Blu-ray)

Maniac Killer (1987) Morality cult-killers directed by Andrea (Burial Ground) Bianchi and starring Chuck Conners, Bo Svenson ad a KISS pinball machine, what's not to love? Everything, this was fucking horrible! (Blu-ray)

Queens of Evil (1970) Ray Lovelock is a wandering, motorcycle riding hippie who stumbles upon three beautiful women in a secluded country house (with ultra-modern interiors) and his free-love attitude is put to the test. A little skin and violence, could have used more of each. (TUBI)

Faceless (1988) Yet another Jess Franco homage to Eyes Without a Face, this one with a great cast (except Chris Mitchum), 80s night clubs, extreme gore and a lot of coke. Helmut Berger, Brigitte Lahaie, Caroline Munro, Telly Savalas, and cameos from Howard Vernon and Lina Romay. Never a dull moment. (DVD)

House of Mortal Sin aka The Confessional (1976) British bird confesses her sins for the first time and picks a creepy old horny pervert priest who stalks her & kills her boyfriends. No one believes her. Susan Penhaligon & Stephanie Beacham are sisters who sleep nude in the same bed. from Pete Walker (Blu-ray)

La Casa Que Arde de Noche (1985) A junkie stripper stabs her dealer in the dick and flees to a brothel, which she ruthlessly takes over from the ailing madame and her gigolo boyfriend. With sex, drugs, J&B, drag & wrestling stage shows, dead cops, dildos, dick candles and more. Is this what Mexican brothels are like? If so, gimme my car keys! This movie was fucking great. Starring Sonia Infante, who also produced, and directed by René Cardona Jr. (Blu-ray)

Laura (1944) Dana Andrews investigates the murder of a beautiful woman and falls in love with her after the fact. Gene Tierney, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price and Judith Anderson round out the stellar cast of this top notch noir from Otto Preminger. (TCM/cable)

Masked Avengers (1981) With the help of a mysterious cook, a group of would-be heroes step up against a gang of masked assassins. The last 10 minutes were great of this Shaw Brothers/Venom Mob flick. (AmPrime-rental)

The Bride Wore Black (1968) A widow seeks revenge against the five men she holds responsible for her husband's death. No Bills were killed in the making of this film. Starring Jeanne Moreau. Good movie from François Truffaut. (AmPrime)

Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show (2010) After being paired with an established horror novelist for a film project, a young director is plagued by violent dreams that he can't distinguish from reality. Director Gabrielle Abanisi's love letter to the Italian horror genre of the 70s & 80s (Kanopy)

Shoot First...Die Later (1974) A rising star lieutenant takes a little on the side to turn a blind eye to petty crimes, but soon enough the mob wants a bigger return on investment and ask him to cover up a murder in Fernando Di Leo's poliziotteschi. Starring Luc Merenda and Richard Conte. J&B – Yes (Kanolpy)

A Virgin Among the Living Dead (1973) A young woman travels abroad to meet her estranged family after the death of her father and realizes something is not quite right in Jess Franco's dreamy, erotic thriller. I saw the 78 minute version, I understand there's multiple cuts.

Gene Tierney may have been the most beautiful female actor of the studio system era. Just mesmerizing beauty.
